pean Mercantile Shipping.

Enclosure 1.

In continuation of my Despatch No. 238, dated the 5th instant, I have the honour to submit a supplementary report, arranged for convenience of reference under the headings and paragraphs of that Despatch on the subject of the typhoon which passed over this Colony between 8.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Tuesday the 18th September.

Paragraph 4.

A revised list is enclosed of casualties to Mercantile Shipping, exclusive of Steam-launches and Native craft. This list shows what has happened in the case of each injured vessel up to the present date. It excludes a Chinese Revenue Sailing Schooner which appeared in the former list but includes one more British Ship - the "Holcheong" since reported as having been totally lost. One of the River Steamers the "Wing Chai" previously so reported has since been raised and sold at auction.
